Ingredients You’ll Need to Make Green Apple Jello Shots

JELLO: You will need green apple jello, boiling water, and ice water for these jello shots. If you can’t find green apple jello in the store, it’s available on Amazon. I used the Jolly Rancher brand gelatin, but the Sonic brand will work just fine too.

LIQUOR: Pick up a bottle of sour apple pucker and caramel vodka. Both are easily found at your local grocery or liquor store. (If you want green apple jello shots, instead of caramel flavored, use regular vodka instead.)

TOPPINGS: Take these jello shots over the top with the addition of whipped cream and caramel sauce, if you like.

Tips & Tricks

  • Making these jello shots goes pretty quickly so it’s a good idea to have all of your ingredients measured out and ready to add before you start. That way you can just pour the ingredients in and stir. Also, be sure to arrange the plastic cups on a tray to make moving them to the fridge easy.
  • Make as many sour apple jello shots as you want by doubling or tripling the recipe.
  • Here are some more fun garnish ideas. Dip the rims of the plastic cups in melted caramel candy before adding the jello. Top the set jello shots with caramel-colored or gold sprinkles (just know that they’ll melt over time.) Add small pieces of green apple with the skin still on! You can also lightly wet the rims of the cups with water and then rim the cups with brown sugar for a great fall flair.
  • Keep any leftover jello shots in the fridge (without toppings) and enjoy within 5 days.
  • You can pop the lids on the plastic cups and stack these jello shots in a chilled cooler to easily transport them to any event.

What’s the best alcohol to use for jello shots?

Jello shots are fun and easy to make, especially because you can use any alcohol you like!

Whisky, gin, and tequila can also be used to make jello shots, along with flavored liqueurs, like peach schnapps or Midori.

The most important part of making jello shots is sticking to the correct ratio of liquids to jello to ensure the jello shots set up correctly so experiment with your favorite spirits and flavors!

Can you use Crown Apple in jello shots?

Crown Royal Regal Apple Whisky and green apple jello are a great combination for green apple jello shots! The green apple flavor comes through nicely and makes the shot taste sweet and delicious.

Many people also enjoy topping the jello shot with caramel sauce for a caramel apple flavor. While the whisky isn’t overpowering, you might want to stick with using apple pucker and caramel vodka if whiskey isn’t your jam.
