Strawberry Vodka Smash Cocktail

2 medium strawberries stems removed and thinly sliced
5 leaves fresh mint
Ice
2 ounces vodka
1 ounce simple syrup
½ ounce lime juice freshly squeezed
Soda water

Instructions

Place the strawberries and mint in a rocks glass (or pint mason jar). Muddle the berries and mint together until the berries are well broken up and the mint is bruised and fragrant.
Fill the glass with ice. Pour in the vodka, simple syrup, and lime juice.
Top the cocktail with soda water until the glass is full. Stir everything together and garnish with more strawberries, mint, and/or a lime slice. Serve immediately.

Notes

Cocktail for a Crowd: Muddle 12 strawberries and a small bunch of mint in the pitcher and then pour in 1 1/2 cups of vodka, 3/4 cup of simple syrup, and 3 ounces of lime juice. Store the pitcher in the fridge until you're ready to serve. To serve, add ice to the glasses and fill 3/4 full. Top with soda water and garnishes. (Makes 6 cocktails)
