Ingredients You’ll Need to Make Apple Pie Oreo Truffles
OREOS: For these truffles, you will need to pick up a package of Golden Oreos. You’ll only be using the whole package, but you can halve the recipe and have fun snacking on the extra Oreos while making these truffles!
PANTRY ITEMS: A can of apple pie filling is needed for this recipe, along with white chocolate chips and vegetable oil.
SPICES: Bring on the fall flavors by adding cinnamon to these bite-sized bliss balls.
CREAM CHEESE: You will be using softened cream cheese to make these truffles so pick out your favorite brand and variety. Regular, Neufachtel, and low-fat all work well.
How to Make Apple Pie Oreo Truffles
Jump to RecipeSTEP 1 Line your baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat and set aside. Using a food processor, pulse the Oreos until they reach a crumb consistency, and then add them to a mixing bowl.
STEP 2 Add the apple pie filling to the food processor and blend until smooth. Add the cream cheese to the mixing bowl filled with Oreo crumbs and use a spoon or spatula to press the two together, until well mixed. Stir in the apple pie filling until smooth.
STEP 3 Place about one tablespoon of the dough in your hands and roll the dough into a ball. Place the ball on the baking sheet and repeat with the rest of the dough. Refrigerate the tray of truffles for 30-60 minutes.
STEP 4 Combine the chocolate chips and vegetable oil in a microwavable safe bowl and heat in the microwave for 1 minute. Stir the chocolate and then heat for another 30 seconds, repeating until the chocolate is melted and smooth. Sprinkle the cinnamon into the melted chocolate and stir. Dunk one Oreo truffle into the chocolate and using a fork, scoop the truffle up, shake off the excess chocolate gently, and place the truffle back on the baking sheet.
STEP 5 Sprinkle your desired topping over the truffle. Once all the truffles have been coated in chocolate and toppings, pop the truffles back into the fridge for about 15 minutes to let the chocolate harden and set.
Tips & Tricks
- Once you add the apple pie filling to the cookie mixture the dough will become more wet. This is normal and after the truffles have been refrigerated for a while the dough will firm up just fine.
- You don’t need a food processor to crush these cookies, you can place the cookies in a large ziplock bag, seal it, and crush them with a rolling pin. Be careful not to puncture a hole in the bag though!
- If you are making a lot of truffles, keep most of them in the fridge while you are dipping some in chocolate so that they stay nice and chilled and easier to cover in chocolate.
- If the chocolate starts to thicken while you’re coating the truffles, return the bowl to the microwave and heat in 30-second intervals until melted and smooth again.
- Don’t forget about all of the toppings you can add! Crushed pecans, walnuts, graham cracker crumbs, or a drizzle of more chocolate are all tasty ideas!
Golden Oreo Truffles Recipe FAQ
What is the flavor of Golden Oreos?
The delicious cream filling in both Golden and Original Oreos is the same but obviously, the original Oreo cookie tastes like chocolate while Golden Oreos taste like vanilla. Even though the Golden Oreo will most likely never be as popular as the original Oreo, this is still a much-loved cookie that is just as perfect for dunking into ice-cold milk.
How long do Oreos stay good for?
Oreo cookies of every flavor can last a pretty long time in your kitchen cabinet. Generally, sealed Oreos will still be tasty for at least six months after you buy them. Once the package is opened the cookies begin to lose their freshness and will last around 4-6 months. Opened Oreos kept in an airtight container in the fridge can last even longer.
Can you leave Oreo truffles out on the counter?
Just about every Oreo Truffle recipe uses cream cheese as a way to hold all of the ingredients together. Because the recipes do contain cream cheese, they can’t be left out on the counter for more than two hours. Prevent your delicious truffles from going bad by keeping them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week.

Apple Pie Oreo Truffles
Equipment
- Food Processor (see note)
Ingredients
- 14.3 ounces Golden Oreos (1 package)
- ½ cup apple pie filling
- 8 ounces cream cheese softened
- 16 ounces white chocolate chips
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- Finely chopped pecans for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Line two baking sheets with silicone mats or parchment paper. Set aside.
- Add the Oreos to a food processor and pulse until the cookies turn into a fine crumb. Transfer the cookie crumbs to a mixing bowl.
- Add the pie filling to the food processor and pulse until smooth. Set aside. (You don't need to clean out the bowl before doing this step.)
- Combine the cream cheese and Oreo crumbs with a rubber spatula until completely incorporated. Add the pie filling to the bowl and combine until smooth. The mixture will be a bit on the wet side.
- Portion 1 tablespoon of the Oreo mixture into the palm of your hand. Use your hands to roll the truffle filling into a ball shape, and then place it onto the prepared baking sheet. Repeat until you have used all the truffle filling. (There should be about 32 truffles.)
- Place the baking sheet in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to 1 hour to set up.
- Add the chocolate chips and vegetable oil to a microwave-safe bowl. Heat on HIGH for 1 minute. Carefully remove the bowl and stir the chocolate. Heat for 30 seconds, remove the bowl, and stir the chocolate. Repeat until the chocolate is completely melted and then stir in the cinnamon.
- Place a truffle into the melted chocolate. Use a fork to help coat the truffle and then lift it out of the chocolate. Tap the handle of the fork on the side of the bowl to help remove any excess chocolate. Place the truffle back onto the baking sheet. Sprinkle with nuts, if desired. Repeat until all the truffles have been coated in chocolate. (see note)
- Return the baking sheet to the refrigerator until the chocolate has set, 10 to 15 minutes. Store in the refrigerator in an airtight container until ready to eat.
Notes
- If you don’t have a food processor, you can seal the Oreos in a large ziploc bag. Then smash the cookies with a rolling pin until they are a fine crumb = no large chunks.
- If the chocolate starts to thicken while you’re coating the truffles, return the bowl to the microwave and heat in 30-second intervals until melted and smooth again.

Oreos come in different size packages, can you tell what size package is used in this recipe.
Julie Kotzbach says
Hi Cindy! I used half of a 14.3 ounces package of Golden Oreos for this recipe.

Girl! I saw these at the link party at thediydreamer.com and I had to stop by! I love Oreo truffles and these look like an awesome spin on that recipe. Also, you are totally right. I would much rather make these than make an apple pie and have it sit on the counter for a while. I could foresee that these would not last long at our house. Pinning to share!

Hi, Im in Australia and would like to know what is the weight for 1/2 packet of oreos as we have many varieties here. Thanks
Julie says
Half a package of Golden Oreos is 7.15 ounces.
Rols says
No Oreos here what do you suggest ?
Julie says
Any vanilla cookie with cream filling would work, or even the Mother’s brand Taffy cookies. 🙂
Heather says
My turned out REALLY wet. Even after I put the chocolate on I still had to use a spoon to eat them. They were awesome! But I want to make these for thanksgiving. I couldn’t even ball them. I had to use a spoon and freeze them to get the chocolate on them. The inside was like pudding consistency, what would you recommend? I ended up combining them all and made “Oreo apple pie pudding.” ?
Thanks
Heather
Julie Espy says
Hi Heather! You could you use some powdered sugar to thicken the filling. You could start with 1-2 tablespoons and add more as needed until you have a soft dough type texture. Hope this helps!
Aanchal says
I’ve tried adding powedered sugar but it’s not working. It’s still really wet and I am unable to roll them into balls. 🙁

Topped mine with caramel bits (next to chocolate chips) instead of nuts for a caramel apple pie truffle. Yummy, Thanks for sharing.

That sounds delicious Chris!!

hi! can i maybe make these truffles with apple pie oreos instead of golden and without the apple pie filling? 🙂
Julie Espy says
Hi Sylvia! I haven’t had the apple pie Oreos, but you can give it a shot. I have no idea how they’ll taste, but it’s 1 package Oreos to 8 ounces cream cheese. Let me know how they turn out! 🙂
Annie says
How did they turn out with the apple pie Oreos!? I was wondering the same thing.
Awesome recipe, btw. My kid doesn’t like chocolate and won’t try pumpkin so I’m banking on these to be Thanksgiving dessert. Thank you for sharing the recipe.

This looks so good! What a fun treat to make for the holidays!
Vanessa says
Thanks for sharing! How far ahead of time can I make them?
Kaitlin says
Are you supposed to remove the filling from the oreos and only use the plain cookies, or just process the whole cookie with filling?
Thank you 🙂
